Giovanni van Bronckhorst returns to Feyenoord as head coach: “There's a ruckus inside again”

Dutch club Feyenoord have reinstated Giovanni van Bronckhorst as head coach. In Wednesday's announcement, he was confirmed to take up the commission at De Kuip for the next two years.

"I came to the club at the age of seven and wore the Feyenoord jersey for a total of 17 years. I have won five trophies as a coach. The bond with the fans is unique to me," Giovanni van Bronckhorst told the club's media. Gio is the coach with the most trophies in Feyenoord history. The league title he led in 2017 was a memorable triumph that ended an 18-year wait. In addition, he holds the record of winning the KNVB-Baker twice and Johan Cruijff Schaal twice.

This time the appointment was made by the new management couple in Rotterdam-Zuid, Robert Eenhoorn and Dévy Rigaux. "In the discussions with them, I felt a buzz inside again. As a team, with a unified approach, especially with the fans, we are confident that we can take the club another step forward. I am looking forward to experiencing that exclusive competitive atmosphere at De Kuip again," said Gio.
