Arsenal have confirmed their 21st manager, Max Border, has joined Stoke City as assistant manager. Border, who came through Arsenal's academy system, joins Stoke City's senior coaching staff with his departure, where he is set to work alongside Ryan Shawcross. The change was announced on Tuesday. After his nine years at Arsenal, Border will now use his experience in a new place. Arsenal said: "We thank Max for his contribution to Arsenal and wish him and his family all the best for the future." Stoke City's sporting director Jonathan Walters said: "Max comes from one of the most elite and successful environments in the country and we welcome him to Stoke City. He is recognized as one of the most distinguished young coaches." "His efforts, enthusiasm and greed were our favorite. He is always trying to improve, experiment and develop those around him. We believe he will make a great contribution to our environment". For Arsenal, Border's departure creates a vacancy in the 21st position and removes a stable coach in the team's academy. With Arsenal and Stoke City having a long-standing rivalry, there will be high expectations of Porter's success in his new place.
