Bournemouth confirm: Scotland midfielder Ryan Christie signs contract extension until 2029
Ryan Christie has extended his contract with Bournemouth until 2029. He was instrumental in helping the team achieve a historic first European qualification in the 2025/26 season.
AFC Bournemouth have officially announced: Scotland midfielder Ryan Christie has signed a new three-year contract with the club. With this, he will continue with the "Cherries" team until the summer of 2029.
Since arriving from Celtic in August 2021, Christie has made a significant impact in Bournemouth's midfield. In particular, the 2025/26 season marked the first time in the club's history that qualification for European competition was guaranteed. Bournemouth finished sixth in the Premier League that year and recorded a club record 57 points. Christie made 26 appearances on that trip, scoring goals against Crystal Palace and Manchester United.
Christie has made a total of 177 appearances in a Bournemouth jersey so far; 124 of those matches were in the Premier League. He has provided a total of 10 goals and 17 assists. In the Premier League alone, he has 5 goals and 9 assists. The 31-year-old midfielder has been dazzling with consistency and industriousness in the middle of the team.

The club's head of football operations, Thiago Pinto, said: "Ryan's contribution to us since his arrival has been huge. We are delighted to have him sign a new contract. He is a leader in the dressing room; his consistent performance, experience and commitment have all strengthened the team. We are confident he will continue to play a big role at this important stage for the club."
Ryan Christie also shared his joy, saying, "It's an amazing feeling. This season has ended with European qualification - it's been an exciting year for the club. I'm looking forward to next season. With the World Cup around the corner, it felt like the right time to sign and focus on that. When I came to Bournemouth, the goal was to play in the Premier League, then the team was confident of promotion. The journey since then has been amazing. So many games, today. It is very special for me to have reached this stage and signed a new contract,” he said.
With this contract extension, Bournemouth will continue to experience and quality in the middle of the squad, and Christie's position will be a great strength for the next phase of their efforts to step onto the European stage for the first time.
