Loris Karius extends contract with Schalke 04 until 2028; Annual salary exceeded 1 million euros

Loris Karius officially extended his contract with Schalke 04 until 2028 as he arrived at club headquarters with a smile on his face yesterday. This is a one-year extension from the previous contract.

The key feature of the New Deal is economic growth. The first agreement, signed in January 2025, contained binding restrictions on outcomes. Then the summer restructuring for the same year had already increased his salary. Karius, the former Liverpool goalkeeper, was paid close to half a million euros a year after a decisive performance in the team's Bundesliga promotion to the 2025/26 season.

The new agreement just signed takes this a step further. According to German media, Karius' monthly salary has more than doubled, surpassing €1 million on an annual basis. This makes him one of the team's highest-paid players, tied with captain Kenan Karaman.

Commercially, Schalke 04 have also made important announcements. Beumer joins as team's new shirt sponsor; This displaces the Sun Minimeal in the foreground. The deal is worth around €7 million per season. Swedish company Blåkläder is contracted as shoulder area sponsor until 2029; This brings in around 2.7 million euros in revenue for each season the club plays in the Bundesliga.

The contract extension and new sponsorship deals are seen as a boost on both the playing and revenue fronts for Schalke 04 as they move towards stability in the Bundesliga.
