Port Vale sign former Burton Albion defender Jasper Moon on a free; He set the goal of 'promotion'

English League Two club Port Vale have signed former Burton Albion centre/right defender Jasper Moon on a free transfer. Moon has confirmed that his first goal in the new team will be 'promotion'.
Moon, 25, who trained at Leicester City's academy and played at senior level with Barnsley, was released last month after three seasons at Burton Albion. His debut goal in a draw against Exeter City helped keep the team in League One.
"I know the pride of the club. When I got word of their interest, I was excited to get it done right away," Moon told the Vale website. He said previous experience with Gary Mills, who was assistant coach at Burton, and James Walsh, who was in charge of fitness at Barnsley, also influenced the decision. "What we need to see is promotion — I know that's what the manager wants," he said.
Vale manager John Brady has identified the signing as a key part of his plans to build a competitive squad after finishing third from bottom in League One last season. "Moon is a strong defender, has a professional approach, and has the quality to raise the bar on and off the court. We love personalities who are willing to challenge themselves and lift up those around them every day, and Jasper fits that mold perfectly," said Brady.
The club's management are hopeful that Moon will add depth and consistency in defense in future pictures for Port Vale. The deal is seen as a clear sign of the team moving towards their promotion target.
