Italy's woes: Gattuso officially appointed as Lazio's head coach
Gennaro Gattuso has been appointed as Lazio's new head coach. Maurizio Sarri has signed a contract until 2028.

Lazio have officially appointed Gennaro Gattuso as their new head coach. The 48-year-old Italian follows Maurizio Sarri, who left Rome this summer. Gattuso has signed a contract until mid-2028. Gattuso has been mentioned as a key candidate in the past few weeks and has now signed a contract at Lazio. It has worked for Senio Aia, Milan, Valencia, Olympique Marseille and Hajduk. With Napoli, winning the Coppa Italia in 2020 gave him his biggest success. Gattuso has coached the Italian national team in the past, but missed out on entry into the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Last season, Sarri and Lazio fell apart, and Gattuso is now hoping to bring the team back to the top of Italy.
