Cyle Larin on goals: 'I'll score when Canada needs me'
Cyle Larin scored his first world goal for Canada and will look to earn a starting spot in the next tournament. His condition has been updated and he is currently playing for Southampton.

World Cup 2026 is all the more important now for Cyle Larin. He scored Canada's first-ever point against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday night. He basically wants to play in the next two group matches. 'I want to play every match.'
Larin didn't get a chance at Feyenoord, but after leaving Rotterdam-Zuid, he has experienced a rebirth. Scored a few goals at Southampton in the second half of last season. On Friday, he gave his country their first point at the World Cup. Larin, in the 78th minute, brilliantly broke away from his opponent's advances and converted his first move into a goal to help the team win.

The win was celebrated with Canadian fans in Toronto. 'This is very special to me. I was ready to step in and help the team,' he told FIFA's website. Despite Bosnia being, on the downside, close to victory, Larin was hopeful of a draw. 'I thought the goals would come. I'll score when Canada needs me, and I've always done that.'
Larin was disappointed not to play early in the match against Bosnia, but Jesse Marsch, the head coach, hopes to give him a chance next time against Qatar and Switzerland. "I want to play in every match. I worked really hard at Southampton, but sometimes you're not in control of that. We have to be focused. We are playing at home and have to fight until the end.'
