Real Madrid have just signed Bernardo Silva

Real Madrid have signed Manchester City referee Bernardo Silva on a free transfer, according to journalist Frabrizio Romano. Silva will sign for two years, with the option of a further one-year extension, after positive talks with Los Blancos.

The win marks Silva's third summer at Madrid after six years at Manchester City, where he won trophies in his previous spell. He joins Ibrahima Konade and Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumbems.

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are in contention, but Madrid have signed him to comply with new manager Jose Mourinho's demands. Silva will bring character and experience to Madrid's midfield due to the withdrawal of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

The winning attitude in the Madrid squad is likely to be crucial for a Madrid side that has been without a goal in the last two seasons. Also, with the possibility of more hands in the squad, Madrid are said to have a greater chance of overtaking Barcelona and becoming the strongest team in Europe.
