Míchel to appeal Ajax: fifth Spanish coach in Eredivisie
Míchel has been appointed as Ajax's new coach and has signed a contract until 2028. He becomes the fifth Spanish coach at Eredivisie and succeeds Óscar García.

Míchel succeeded Óscar García as interim coach at Ajax and made his debut as interim coach against Sparta Rotterdam on 14 March. He was flanked by Albert Ferrer, Gonzalo García García and Julio Velázquez, all of whom had more than one season in charge at the Eredivisie. Ferrer, García, a former Barcelona player, became coach of Vitesse in the 2010/11 season. García García became the coach of FC Twente in the 2019/20 season. Velázquez gained notoriety for his conduct at Fortuna three years earlier. Míchel will be ready for his EreTVC debut on 7, 8 or 9 August, when the new season kicks off in the Netherlands. Before this, the Spanish coach has already played on the field for Ajax, as the teams for Amsterdam will play against a European opponent in the second leading round of the Conference League on 23 and 30 July.
