Sanat Naft Abadan have made a winning start to new coach Zeyed Seeros Bourmozavi's tenure in the Iran Premier League. The Yellows picked up three points against Aluminum Arag in their first match in Abadan after the sacking of the team's previous manager, Mohammad Nori. The start has clearly given confidence to Abadan, who were under pressure at the bottom of the table.
When Purmosavi explained about the victory, he said, "The main praise goes to the players. This is a victory won by running with great emotion, unity and struggle even in a short preparation time. Since the training time was limited, we focused on the mentality and integrity of the team rather than tactical plans," according to Persian media reports. He also noted the quality of the opposing aluminum arrack; He lauded the work of the team's creator, Byruz Ghorbani, and shared his view that "this defeat does not detract from their worth".
Responding to a question on whether there were any challenges of his own before assuming the role of coach, Purmosavi said that he took over the team when he was not the first choice, and more importantly, the economic issues should be resolved. "If the salary of the players is delayed, it will directly affect their morale, and no coach will be able to execute his plans properly," he hinted. Following this, Purmosavi insists that the club management has promised to fix the financial issues as soon as possible and that it is necessary to create an environment where the players feel that they have the full support of the club.
Purmosavi was cautious when talking about the alternative market. "There is no opportunity to add a new player now; it is difficult to get an immediate impact player at this stage. Therefore, we are fully focused on the tactical and physical development of the current team. We can look at opportunities to strengthen the team in the interim phase (practice break)," his comment shows the clarity of the team's plan.
When asked about the relegation zone pressure, Purmosavi's signal was, "Not afraid of relegation; we have to fight till the 34th week of the league; we have to try not to let go even to the last second." He said that the main goal of the team is to meet the expectations of the fans.
In this case, the next challenge is in Tabriz. It's a tough outing for any team at a Tractor Stadium ablaze with local support. Accepting that, Purmosavi has strengthened his determination that "it is not easy to play in Tabriz, but we are also trying to score points with our enthusiasm, control and intensity. We will not be a team that stands idly by." The match against Traktor is seen as a benchmark to relieve Sanat Naft Abadan from the pressure at the bottom of the table and a further confidence boost for Purmosavi's new plans.
All in all, Sanat Naft Abadan's path forward is clear: address infrastructure issues, maximize the current squad's potential, and look for smart reinforcements in the offseason. Until then, Purmosavi's plan is to plug every point and move to safety, starting with Tabriz.
What happens next
Under Purmosavi's leadership, Sanat Naft will look to achieve more wins in the next tournament and the team's management has promised to resolve the financial issues as soon as possible. Thus, the mood of the players will improve and the performance of the team will increase.
