A lesson for Atalanta's sale – Ms Selvi also signed a €100m deal with Manchester United before July
Atalanta have sold more than €100 million to Manchester United and Chelsea before the transfer window opens, continuing their best selling record.
Atalanta continue their best-selling record: they have secured €105 million in revenue this summer. With the Serie A international transfer window set to officially open on June 29, Atalanta have confirmed a €60m deal to add Marco Balestra to the Serie A side, while midfielder Ederson is set to join Manchester United for €45m (including bonuses). In the last 24 hours there have been reports of interest from Brighton and Hove Albion in 18-year-old defender Honest Achanor, which could turn over €105 million. Before Balestra's move, Atalanta have sold the player for more than €50 million in each of the last five summer transfer windows. In the summer of 2022, Tottenham Hotspur activated a buyout offer for Cristian Romero in excess of €50 million. Rasmus Hoylund joined Manchester United in the summer of 2023, becoming the club's most expensive sale of all time. In 2024, Tune Coupémainers was sold to Juventus for over €60 million. In 2025, Matteo Retegui was sold to La Deva for €65 million. It is unclear how new head coach Maurizio Sarri will invest these funds, but recent reports suggest that ex-Juventus Niccolò Savona could be the first signing of the summer. Atalanta are also interested in Lazio defender Mario Zilla.
