What do Portugal and DR Congo need to progress in World Cup Group K?

The World Cup 2026 group stage is coming to its final stage, but the adventure continues till the last round of matches in Group K. Portugal, aided by their star player Cristiano Ronaldo, face Colombia, who have also won two matches to take the top spot. DR Congo face Uzbekistan in Group K, a win in which they will have a chance to continue the World Cup.

The last two matches in Group K will start at the same time, which will cause major changes in the schedule. For Portugal, they remain with four points, which is enough to at least progress to eighth place. But, they may have to meet with English, so they want to top the group.

A win would see Portugal leapfrog Colombia into first place; A draw would be enough to overtake DR Congo for second place. DR Congo, currently with a point, need a win. A win would see them move up to third place, with four points.

If several teams in the group have the same number of points, the top spot in the table will be decided by their head-to-head matches. With each team that loses to a team that wins a match with that team, that team will advance.

In this manner, all these are; Points based on points, goal difference, and points. Also, the Team Conduct Score (TCS) measures how many cards the team has received.

More importantly, teams with four or more points will progress, but teams with three points can only progress if they have the best goal difference.
