The £34m Barcelona left-back
Barcelona ready to listen to proposals for Alejandro Balte in January, say TEAMtalk; Liverpool, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested.
Barcelona left-back worth £34m
According to Sports.
Background
Ronald Araujo, who joined Liverpool in the last transfer, has the background to support his arrival. As such, Balde's move to Liverpool has the potential to bolster Araujo's experience. This increases the chances of Barcelona's young players going to Premier League clubs.
Why this matters
The interest of Liverpool and other Premier League clubs in Alejandro Balte highlights the challenges of securing Barcelona's young talent. The transfer was crucial to Balte's development while reducing his opportunities in La Liga. Also, Liverpool are Ronald Araujo's leading teammate, which adds to his credit.
Key Points

- Liverpool offered sensational January deal for £34m Barcelona star.
The words heating up the European exchange market are getting traffic again. According to TEAMtalk publication, several clubs are monitoring Barcelona's young left-back Alejandro Balte; Liverpool is said to be one of them. Balde, 22, despite getting regular game time under Hansi Bligh last season, has slipped down the priority list this season, making just 12 minutes as a substitute so far, the report insists. Competition on the left from the likes of Joao Cancelo and Xavi Espart has also meant that his chances have diminished.
According to the same report, Barcelona are ready to listen to proposals for their academy product Balte in January. Paris Saint-Germain are said to have decided to make an offer of around €40m (£34m recently). TEAMtalk reports that there is also interest from the English Premier League, particularly Manchester United at the top of the line-up. Meanwhile, sources say that Balde is also open to the idea of playing in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, the report suggests that Balde's name has been 'loudly' brought to Liverpool. The club is also said to be looking to increase depth at the left-back position. According to the report, Milos Garkes and Kostas Simikas are the only senior options out there. With the void left by Andy Robertson's move to Tottenham (on a free transfer) and Simigas' contract expiring at the end of the season, a move at that position is expected to take place in January. It has also been suggested that new sporting director Julian Ward and coach Anthony Raiola may want to add an option to compete for Garges.
Also, reports of recent moves from Barcelona to Liverpool have revealed that Uruguayan central defender Ronald Araujo joined Anfield on loan last summer and could have an option to make it permanent at the end of the season for around £47m. It should be noted that these are all just details emerging from media reports and have not been officially confirmed by any club.
However, with Balde's contract running until 2028, Barcelona could consider a solution on a loan or export (sale) basis due to competition and reduced playing time, according to TEAMtalk. The report explains that the offer has been 'contracted' to the Liverpool camp and that transfer agents are knocking and checking various European bases.
The left back position in the Premier League is an important determinant of quality/depth. High speed returns, wide runs and cross passes are mandatory in this position. As a player who has already won medals at La Liga level at a young age, Balte has shown the ability to do these roles. However, making a decision in the January window will be determined by a number of factors—the clubs' financial situation, salary structure, guaranteed playing time, and Barcelona's internal plan, to name a few.
In conclusion, the Balde-Liverpool link is still in the rumour/rumor stage. Until an official announcement is made, this should be seen as a 'primary interest'. Until then, this will be a watchable guide for fans hoping for a move to the left in the January window.
What happens next
In the January transfer window, Balde could receive offers from several clubs, notably Liverpool and Manchester United. Barcelona will assess his situation and make last-minute transfers if necessary. Meanwhile, Balde is ready to take on new challenges and has expressed interest in playing Premier League football.
