Rangers look for 19-year-old midfielder with €4.5m demand: right or wrong?
Rangers have made a bid for Partizan midfielder Oknen Ugarishi with a €4.5m demand, but the Serbian club are eyeing €5.5m. The change raises questions about the financial plans of Rangers' overhaul of the squad under Derek McGuinness.
Mozart Sport are reporting that Rangers have made a €4.5m bid for Partizan star Oknen Ugarishi. This amount is paid directly. The Rangers, however, want this to end quickly. Partizan Belgrade face a tough situation in UEFA watch time and need money for midfielder of the week. But Partisan executives dismiss the measure as a joke. They are looking at 5.5 million euros and are also making a huge future sales share request.
Oknen Ukarishi and Vanja Dragojevic run Partizan's core, but Dragojevic commands the most attention. Overspending on this 20-year-old midfielder seems wrong for the Rangers team.
Derek McGuinness faces a tricky situation at Ibrox. The group requires holistic treatment. Spending over 5 million on a compact youngster from Serbia's top league is a big risk. He remains vice-captain and with a €15m release clause, Partisan have a range of options. But the Scottish Premier League is a different original. It is very loud, body pounding and fast.
