Debate on high competition: The incident at World Cup 2026
In the match between Uruguay and Cape Verde, debates arose about the performance as one player put his team's needs first.
When Uruguay and Cape Verde played to a 2–2 draw last Monday, an incident caused much discussion on the internet. Uruguayan Federico Vinas helped stretch his legs as Cape Verde's Thelmo Arcanjo, who was stuck, suddenly let go of his legs before his team's attack. After this incident, Maxi Araujo went 1–1. After the match, Vinas says, "My opponent needed help, but my help was more important for my team". Cape Verde coach Pupista, in contrast, said at the end, "I was sad to see this scene. How Marcelo Bielsa (Uruguay coach) explains a good game every time." This has created a debate in court: no justice or a big debate? Share your views.
